The Couple
Our Love Story
Greg and Nattie first met at SIFF Cinema Uptown on Nattie's first day as a volunteer. Less than a year later, he asked her out on Valentine's Day, but she was in a relationship.
After the relationship ended, it was Nattie's turn to pursue Greg, but Greg was no longer interested.
Then Greg's landlord decided to sell the house he was living in. At the same time, Nattie was thinking of moving. So they decided to combine forces and move in together. They got an apartment together in August 2015. Oh my god, they were roommates.
Unbeknownst to Greg, Nattie still had feelings for him. Despite this, Greg just considered her a good friend that he had no intention of dating -- despite going out on dates with her. Including one on Valentine's Day. To the ballet. To see Romeo and Juliet.
Luckily for both of them, Greg came around and they became official sometime in June 2016. They moved once since then and even adopted a cat, but their feelings for each other only increased. After Greg became a manager at SIFF, he started to think about proposing to Nattie.
But then there was a pandemic, the theaters were closed, and his job was gone.
During lockdown, while others were learning how to bake bread, they were watching Out 1 and playing Breath of the Wild.
Ironically, the pandemic ended up providing both funds for the ring and a more stable, full-time job after lockdown was lifted. So on November 30, 2021, Greg proposed. And Nattie said yes.
